Blood Pressure Screening

Blood pressure screening is important because high blood pressure usually has no symptoms and cannot be detected without being measured. We have a retired nurse who comes in once a month for blood pressure screenings. They are by appointment only at this time. Please call us to schedule your appointment today, 608-424-6007.

What is Healing Touch?
Healing Touch is a compassionate energy therapy in which practitioners use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and self-healing.
Healing Touch uses gentle, light or near-body touch to clear, balance, energize and support the human energy system to facilitate and support healing for the whole person: mind, body, spirit.
The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the human energy system thus creating an optimal environment for the body's innate tendency for healing to occur.

Resistance Band Workout

Every Monday of the Month 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Our volunteer instructor Emily comes to us from Four Winds Manor in Verona.
Resistance bands are large elastic bands that you can use to exercise all areas of the body. They can be good for people with limited mobility, as many of the exercises can be done while seated.

Ballet for Seniors is an exercise program that uses ballet fundamentals to help with strength, stability, and mobility. Absolute Beginners are welcome! This class uses beautiful music to encourage a joyful experience while the instructor adapts the movement to meet the needs of every participant. Dance is something special to be shared by everyone! Please join us to experience this unique blend of exercise, art, and community!
*No Special Clothes or Shoes needed.*
Cost is $20 if paid in advance for all 4 classes in
September (so $5 per class). Drop in rate is $7 per class. If you know you have for example, an appointment during one of the classes please let us know and we can accommodate with a lower price as long as we know ahead of time. Please call SRSC with questions and to sign up for class.

Footcare with Deb

Foot health is more important than most of us realize, especially as we age. Having healthy feet help to keep us balanced and mobile. To reduce the risk of foot problems schedule a footcare visit with Deb and let her help with your foot health. Deb is a retired nurse and a wonderful footcare specialist. Footcare is scheduled with Deb directly and can be done in home or at the senior center and is by appointment only. Please call Deb to schedule your appointment today, 608-332-0965.
Tai Chi Class

2nd, 3rd, & 4th Wednesday of the month at 10:00
Tai Chi, Chi Kung (pronounced Chee Gong) are a related low impact wellness practice for health and balance. The movements are slow and flowing. Done on a regular basis they enhance strength,
coordination, relaxation and patience. Many people who learn this practice report improvement in balance, as well as a greater ease in their daily activities.
There is a wealth of information to be found on the internet as well as in books. Yet, another way to appreciate if Tai Chi Kung might be of interest to you is to participate in a class.

Basic Line Dancing
EVERY Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm
Basic line dance class helps improve memory, strength and muscle function, increases balance and flexibility as well as improves cardiovascular and heart health. Line dancing will be done using a wide variety of music and dance styles including country, waltz, ballroom etc. The ladies are having a blast in class, men are welcome too!

Yoga

Every Tuesday of the Month 12:30 - 1:30 pm
Volunteer Instructor Angela comes to us from GL Rehabilitation Services. Yoga poses for both chair yoga and yoga using a mat are demonstrated at every class.
Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today, most Westerners who do yoga do it for exercise or to reduce stress.
